VIVANT
Project - Hospitality
2024 - SHANGHAI
Vivant Restaurant is situated in the century - old Far East Hotel in front of People's Square in Shanghai. The design pays respect to and responds to the historical features. It takes the charm of the South of France as its foundation and integrates the simple lines of the mid - century modern style from the 1960s and 1970s, thereby recreating a dining atmosphere that combines retro sentiment with modern style. The street - facing window area maintains the building's original continuous window view, creating a serialized dining experience by the window.
The streamlined shape of the boat's stern outside the window is regarded as an exquisite display window. When combined with warm lighting, it resembles a vintage cruise ship sailing towards the South of France, commencing the entire dining journey. The high, pure dome inside the room interacts with the gradient high - gloss lacquer, while the open kitchen further reduces the distance between people and food, delineating an intimate and warm French dining experience. The overall design incorporates contemporary aesthetics into the historical texture, presenting a journey of the interweaving of time and space.
