MILLHOUSE

Project - Residence

2024 - SHANGHAI

Created for a new generation by a new generation. The Flour Mill or Fu Xin Li exists inside China’s first electrically powered flour mill. Encapsulating the country’s always-evolving spirit, architecture doubles as symbol.

The Upper Villa expands and evolve alongside the inspired collector’s vision, gallery and home complete with museum-grade art storage. Western art and local philosophy imprint this modernist space with the art of living. Folding doors separate living room and study, allow modified interactions among inhabitants. Leather trim and embellishment adorn the staircase leading to the fourth floor bedroom.

The Lower Villa stands for ease, prioritizing smooth transitions and free flow. Natural woods, stone and flora ground the interiors with metals in delicate contrast. Strung between nature and luxury, returning home is returning to a firmly planted place of heart and balance. A staircase doubles as sculpture, a playful suspended surprise for the eye. Objects blend silently, muted toenliven the moments of residents.
