111 Varick maintains a distance from SoHo cliché, entwining industrial moments of the neighborhood’s intensely replicated past with contemporary refinement. Pairing raw metals with semi-precious stone; grit is polished character endures. Surface and texture are given center stage without rival. Guided by a "truth to materials” ethos, the project’s essence can be found in the lobby. Solid bronze desk doubling as sculpture: design never outpacing utility.
