The project wields light as material to render space and atmosphere. Lending wisdom from Louis Kahn, light and shadow are used to understate contours, lines that define traditional spaces are dissolved. Without bounds surroundings fold and encase dwellers; harmonized materials end and begin unannounced. Curved walls and furniture forms offer the eye an uninterrupted cascade in aid of natural illumination. Khan crowned light “giver of all presences,” a central element. Giving and taking, every shadow belongs to light. In constant motion, Anlan is both place and presence– everything owed to light.
